experimental physicist

InnoFlex is a climate-tech startup developing advanced gas abatement solutions on an industrial scale. Our core technology, based on plasma-enhanced catalytic processes, breaks down various pollutants with minimal energy input. We collaborate with established clients across industries such as agriculture and semiconductors. Currently, we are pioneering new approaches for the efficient degradation of inert fluorinated greenhouse gases by combining non-thermal plasmas and catalysts.

Are you an experimentalist who thrives in the lab? We are seeking a meticulous Experimental Physicist to join our R&D team. In this role, you will be the driving force behind our physical setups. You will own the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of our advanced plasma-catalytic systems, ensuring our data is clean, our instruments are working properly, and our experiments are rigorously documented.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Reactor Operation & Troubleshooting: Set up, run, and optimize plasma-catalytic reactors. When a system needs troubleshooting, you’ll be the first line of defense to diagnose and fix it.
  • Gas Delivery Management: Safely configure, maintain, and troubleshoot gas delivery systems, including mass flow controllers, pressure regulators, and complex manifold systems
  • Analytical Instrumentation: Utilize FTIR instruments, Electrical probes and OES probes to monitor plasmas, reactions and characterize outputs.
  • Experimental Book-Keeping: Maintain rigorous, highly organized, and auditable lab notebooks and digital data repositories.
  • Contribute: To data processing and interpretation of results, understanding of the base physical and chemical processes, amelioration of design of experiments and development of optimized systems.

We are looking for:

  • Education: Bachelor’s, Master’s or Ph.D. in Applied Physics, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a closely related experimental discipline.
  • Experience: Preferred 2 years of work experience in lab environment, either academic or industrial and hands-on approach to problem-solving. Multivariate data processing, interpretation and communication of results.
  • Hardware Savvy: Comfort working with gas handling equipment and control systems. Experience in low-level electronics, programming and automation would a plus.
  • Technical Expertise: Design and realization of experimental setups, in particular involving fluid handling systems is required. Previous experience with gas-phase FTIR, OES or electrical characterization and understanding of non-thermal plasma physics or solid-state catalysis chemistry would be strong assets.
  • Mindset: An analytical, result-oriented problem-solving attitude with a deep appreciation for data integrity and rigorous record-keeping. Ability to work independently within a collaborative team.
